Role Overview
The Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing and management of medicines in accordance with prescriptions, hospital policies, and applicable pharmacy regulations. The role involves reviewing prescriptions, providing guidance to patients on medication usage and precautions, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring proper storage and handling of medicines. The Pharmacist also monitors inventory, stock levels, expiry dates, and batch details, supports procurement and stock verification activities, maintains proper documentation for controlled and high-alert medications, and coordinates with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective pharmaceutical care and smooth day-to-day pharmacy operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Dispense medicines accurately as per prescriptions.
- Review prescriptions for appropriate dosage, interactions, and potential errors.
- Provide guidance to patients regarding medication usage and precautions.
- Maintain proper records of medicines, prescriptions, and pharmacy transactions.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of medicines as per required standards.
- Monitor pharmacy inventory, stock levels, expiry dates, and batch details.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals when required.
- Handle purchase, receipt, and issue of medicines and medical supplies.
- Maintain proper documentation for controlled and high-alert medications.
- Conduct regular stock verification and support inventory audits.
- Ensure compliance with hospital pharmacy policies and applicable regulations.
- Support smooth day-to-day functioning of the pharmacy.
Qualifications & Requirements
- B.Pharm / D.Pharm from a recognized institution.
- Valid State Pharmacy Council Registration.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a hospital or pharmacy setting.
- Good knowledge of medicines, dosage forms, and pharmacy operations.
- Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with pharmacy/ERP software.
- Good communication, attention to detail, and patient-service skills.
